Geographic Position:

Tropea stands on an imposing standstone cliff, in a charming position between the Gulf of Sant’Eufemia and Gioia Tauro, and is one of the most artistically interesting and picturesque centres in the Vibo Valentia province. The area stills holds traces of ancient prehistoric settlements, alongside buildings and burial passages dating back to Greek and Roman times. Tropea has one of the best preserved and most beautiful historical centres to be found in the entire region. Must sees include the XI century Norman Cathedral, the Church of San Frencesco and Santa Maria della Neve, and the evocative Santa Maria dell’Isola, which rises at the foot of the city on a strip of land which projects towards the sea. The most ancient city centre stands on the so called “belvedere” terrace, from where can be admired the transparent, deep azure sea, which infringes on the jagged cliffs and the pure white beaches; all this natural beauty is surrounded by undulating hills dappled with citrus groves, vineyards and olive groves. Finally, but by no means least importantly, the region is renowned for its delicate hand crafts and its gastronomy – in particular its seafood.
Right on the sea front, In the most antique part of the city, are the apartments, facing a picturesque pier and next to the Cathedral. They are part of an antique palazzo, the construction of which dates back to the XVI century, on the ruins of an old Roman site. At 54 metres above sea level, the apartments grant a beautiful view over the Tropea sea scape. During spring 2004 the entire palazzo was renovated, with particular attention paid to maintaining the original style and beauty, making it the idyllic destination for a relaxing and stimulating break. A beautiful 17th century stairway grants access to the apartments on offered, which are situated on various levels of th epalazzo. The apartments have been furnished with taste and simplicity, using the best materials and where possible stone, wood and tiles from the original building.

Description of the apartments:

Apartment N°1 : “Tavulea” 2 room apartment with 2 / 4 beds ( ground floor) Double room + sofa bed (2 persons) From the entrance: - from DX one reaches the living room, which consists of a table with chairs, a sofa bed, and 2 balconies. - - descending the stairs is the open plan kitchen. - - the bedroom is reached from the kitchen, by way of a stairway carved from the natural rock face. The bathroom contains a hydro massage shower and a balcony with sea view.
Apartment N°2 : “Passo Cavaleri” 2 room apartment with 2 / 4 beds (ground floor) Double room + sofa bed (2 persons) From the entrance: - one reaches the kitchen. Further on is the living room with a table and chairs, a sofa bed, and 1 balcony with sea view. - The bedroom is reached by way of a stairway carved from the natural rock. The bathroom contains a hydro massage shower and a balcony with sea view. These very picturesque and unusual apartments (n°s 1 & 2) have been excavated entirely from the natural rock.
Apartment N°3 – “Pizzuta” 2 room apartment with 2/4 beds (ground floor). Terrace with sea view: Double room + sofa bed (2 persons) From the entrance: one reached the kitchen. The bathroom is on the right hand side further on, and has a hydro-massage bath / shower. The living room contains a table with chairs, a sofa bed and a terrace and balcony with sea views. The level above is reached from the living room by way of a staircase. Here one finds the open plan double room.
Apartment n°4 – “Galera” 2 room apartment with 2 / 4 beds (ground floor), with a veranda with sea views. Double room and sofa bed (2 persons) From the entrance : one reaches the kitchen, followed by an area with a table and chairs. On the mezzanine above is an open plan double room. The living room is reached by means of a stairway carved from the rockface, and contains a sofa bed and two armchairs. A fabulous veranda, carved from the rock, offers spectacular sea views. The shower, with its hydro massage feature, is also to be found in this area. This beautiful and evocative space was carved entirely from the rock, and dates back to the 13th century.
Apartment n°5 – “Gabbaturchi” 3 room apartment with 5 beds (1° floor), no sea view: 3 bed rooms – 2 double, 1 single. Area n° 1 : Entrance way, kitchen on the right, round glass table with seats and a balcony. Area n° 2 : living room with armchairs and a balcony. To the right is a double room with balcony, and further right a bathroom with shower and wash hand basin. Area n° 3 : The first floor is reached from the living room, by means of a stairway. Here there is one single room, one double room, and a full bathroom (i.e. bath and shower).
Apartment n°6 – “Formiculi” 6 bed apartment with sea view. 3 double rooms Area no°1: Entrance way, kitchen on the right, bathroom. Area no°2 : Large living room with glass table, sofa, armchairs and balcony with sea view. On the right a double room with balcony. Area no°3 : The first floor is reached from the living room, and consists of 2 double rooms – one at mezzanine level – and a bathroom.
Apartment n°7 – “isola Bella” 6 bed apartment with sea view. 2 double rooms + sofa bed (2 persons) Area n°1: Entrance way, breakfast room, sofa bed with armchairs, balcony with sea view. Area n°2 : Kitchen to the right, bathroom. Area n°3 : The first floor is reached by stairs from the living room and consists of 2 double rooms and a bathroom.
Apartment n°8 – “Missaggi” 4 bed apartment without sea view. Area n°1 : Entrance way, breakfast room, and kitchen to the left. Area n°2 : Continuing to the left is a double room with bathroom. Area n°3 : The first floor is reached by stairs from the breakfast room, and consists of a double room with bathroom.

General Information:

In July and August the apartments can only be rented for a minimum of 1 week (from Saturday to Saturday). In the remaining months it is possible to agree on other days of arrival/departure. Your stay begins on arrival day at 5 p.m. and ends on departure day at 9 a.m. After the confirmation of the availability, your booking will be confirmed only after giving the 30% of the prize as a deposit. It's necessary to add €50/week to the cleaning and €15/person/week for the linen hire. At the arrival we'll ask a deposit of 100€ that will be refound at the moment of the check out. For Christmas period check the price of May.
